AUTOMOBILE -tRANSMISSION SYSTEM

The mechanism that transmits the power developed by the engine of automobile to  driving wheels is called the TRANSMISSION SYSTEM (or POWER TRAIN)

TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

Clutch
 The gear box
 Propeller shaft
 Universal joint

        Rear axle
   Wheel
  Tyres

Requirements Of Transmission System

1)  Connection and disconnection of engine with rest of power train       without shock and smoothly.
2)  Provide a varied leverage between the engine and the drive           wheels.
3)  Transfer power in opposite direction
4)  Enable power transmission at varied angles and varied lengths.
5)  Enable speed reduction between engine and the drive wheels in the     ratio of 5:1.
6)  Enable diversion of power flow at wright angles.
7)  Enable drive of the driving wheels at different speeds when           required.
8)  Bear the effect of torque reaction , driving thrust and braking       effort effectively.

Gearbox

The gearbox is a mechanical method of transferring energy from one device to another and is used to increase torque while reducing speed.

Types

Manual Transmission

AUTOMOBILE - TRANSMISSION SYSTEM | MANNUAL TRANSMISSION

Its a mode of transmission that the  driver manually changes the gears of the automobile  by means of the help of CLUTCH.

Automatic Transmisson

AUTOMOBILE - TRANSMISSION SYSTEM | AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

In this type a TORQUE COVERTER is used to transmit the rotation energy according to the engine speed to vehicle speed.

Semi Automatic& dual clutch Transmission

AUTOMOBILE - TRANSMISSION SYSTEM | SEMIAUTOMATIC& DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION

Its a cross of Automatic and Manual Transmission.

CVT( Continuously Variable Transmission)

AUTOMOBILE - TRANSMISSION SYSTEM | CVT

Its a type of Automatic Transmission, Belt and Pullies are used instead of gear box.

AMT( Automated Manual Transmission)

AUTOMOBILE - TRANSMISSION SYSTEM | AMT

Its having a Manual Transmission gearbox and clutch. The gear changes according to change in speed. There is no need to transmit manually. And it makes use of electronic equipment such as sensors, actuators, and processors to simulate manual and make gear change precise and smooth.

I hope all may understand the basics of Transmission System in simple.
Comment everyone having which types of transmission is used in your Cars.
And leave all the comments that you want to know about this topic.

Thank You.
