AUTOMOBILE - TYPES AND CLASSIFICATIONS




Automobile is a vehicle used for land transportation with the help of a self propelled engine and wheels connected with a chassis.


Here is the simple and detailed review about the classification of vehicles with video.


CLASSIFICATION

       Based on Nature , Behaviour , Load Capacity,  Design,  Purpose automobiles are classified.


PURPOSE BASED

Passenger vehicle -car ,bus ,mini van etc .

Goods Vehicle- truck, trailers etc 

 Special Utility Vehicles-school bus, ambulance, fire brigade, police van etc



SUSPENSION SYSTEM BASED


Independent Suspension System 

    Independent suspension system is that allows each wheel on the same axle more vertically independently.

Non-independent or Rigid Suspension System  

   Non independent suspension system is the oldest  simplest spring  axle arrangements ,here both wheels are attached to the same axle. Generally it is used in heavy duty vehicles. That means, if one wheel is in contact with an unusual road the other will also change its position by tilt or move upwards or downwards.

Air Suspension System 

     It is this system which heavy airbags are used for suspension with the help of air compressor under the pressure of 5.6 to 7 kg /m².



TRANSMISSION BASED 


Manual transmission 

  Manual transmission is the system by manually changing the gear with the help of a clutch according to engine and vehicle  speed.

Automatic Transmission

     In this system  a Torque Converter is used to transmit rotation energy does the speed of the vehicle varies.

Continuously variable transmission(CVT)

      In this system belt and pulleys are used instead of gears it is also a type of automatic transmission

 Automated or Integrated Manual Transmission

      This system having a manual transmission gearbox and cluch. The gear changes according to the changes of the vehicle speed and engine speed. There is no need to shift manually .

Semi automatic and dual clutch transmission

     This is a system with the cross of automatic and manual transmission.

FRAME Actually frame is known as the skeleton of an automobile.           Types A) Conventional frame It is also known of non load carrying frame .
